Fitness Manager

Fitness Connection is looking for a highly motivated Fitness Manager to join our team. 

POSITION SUMMARY:   The Fitness Manager (FM) is responsible for the overall revenue, profitability and managers (AFM) and personal trainers (PT) and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Company policies and procedures. The FM reports directly to the General Manager (GM).



  • Directly responsible for managing all fitness sales to ensure that goals are met and statistics are accurate and submitted on a timely basis

  • Oversee and track fitness sales production through the Personal Training System

  • Promote company approved nutrition services/vendors and supplements


  • Manage all expenses associated with the department

  • Compile, verify, and submit payroll to the General Manager


  • Recruit, interview, hire and supervise personal training staff

  • Continually develop and motivate personal training staff and Assistant Fitness Manager

  • Audit and review personal training staff

  • Communicate disciplinary issues and problems involving personal training staff to General Manager

  • Maintain accurate records of all personal training staff (CPR and Certification of Degree)

  • Organize training meetings and educational seminars for Personal Training staff

  • Handle member complaints and suggestions as they pertain to personal training

Customer Experience

  • Manage session usage, client turnover, quality and appropriateness of client workout regiments

  • Manage client scheduling system with emphasis on trainer no shows

  • Conduct personal training sessions as necessary


  • Keep thorough knowledge of, adhere to and enforce company policies and procedures

  • Submit monthly plan for training, scheduling, promotions and departmental meetings to General Manager

  • Participate in all scheduled meetings as directed by General Manager

  • Assure that all monthly promotional materials related to personal training are displayed properly and promptly.

  • Act as manager on duty when GM and Assistant GM are not present

  • Assure that all applicable personal training forms are in stock

  • Assist in ensuring that the gym is clean and equipment in good condition



  • Well-developed understanding and use of management skills such as recruitment, selection, training and development, coaching, goal setting, performance management, delegation and organization

  • High level of professionalism, honesty, integrity and work ethic.

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Working knowledge of computer software programs including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Ability to work flexible hours

  • Minimum of one year of proven success at the personal trainer level or related industry experience

  • Must have current certification from an NCCA accredited PT certification body:  AAPTE, ACTION, ACSM, ACE, CI, CSCCA, IFPA, NASM, NCSF, NESTA, NETA, NFPT, NSCA, PMA.

  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

  • Current CPR and AED certification

  • High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
